Mr. Breton and Mr. Banville developed a strong bond while working at Shawinigan Engineering and shared the same vision: to provide high-level engineering expertise and cutting-edge solutions. They decided to join forces and founded Breton, Banville and Associates in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, known today as BBA.
Originally, BBA made its mark in electrical engineering. In 2004, the firm set up offices in the Montréal downtown core and created a team specialized in mining and metals. BBA quickly made a name for itself in this market through determination, drive and the arrival of renowned experts from complementary fields.
The firm grew using a cross-Canada expansion strategy. With prime positioning in Québec, BBA decided to attack the Western Canada market. The firm officially opened an office in Vancouver in 2009, one in Calgary in 2012 and another in Edmonton in 2019. Today, we also have three regional service points in Terrace, Fort Saint-John and Kamloops.
As we see it, the best way to meet client expectations is to be in the field. Opening an office in Labrador City marked the beginning of a series of regional offices strategically located to provide support and proximity in Québec City (2011), Sudbury (2017), Abitibi (2018), Mont-Tremblant (2020) and Sept-Îles (2021).
Ontario’s mining activities were growing, and investments were being made in its energy infrastructure, so the time was ripe for BBA to establish itself in Toronto. The firm opened an office in 2012 and quickly developed strong and successful relationships with major clients in the region.
As one of Canada's leading energy and natural resource engineering firms, BBA wants to play an instrumental role in developing technological solutions to protect the environment. With this in mind, it pursued a series of acquisitions, namely Kawa Engineering Ltd. in 2017 and Biofilia Inc. in 2018. This expansion strengthened BBA’s commitment to position itself as a firm promoting environmental stewardship in all facets of its business.
